Saints’ new OL Justin Herron wasted no time choosing New Orleans after team showed interest

The Ryan Ramczyk continues to be a mystery for the New Orleans Saints. He is one of the top offensive tackles in the NFC, even as a veteran. That being said, his knee injury continues to linger, and it will for the rest of his career. There is a chance that he does not play in 2024.

Accordingly, the Saints added depth OL option Justin Herron. He hasn’t flourished during his time in the pros, but he has been a capable piece to every unit he’s been a part of so far. He was quite appreciative of the chance from the Saints, too.

Herron said that it was a no-brainer to join the Saints.

It’s clear that the new addition has a lot of respect for the organization. Even without making the postseason over the past two years, the Saints have contained a gritty identity.

Herron has played in 35 NFL games. 28 of those were with the New England Patriots and seven with the Las Vegas Raiders. He’s recorded 11 starts over his career.

The veteran thinks that he can be dependable for their offense going forward. That fits what new Saints OC Klint Kubiak wants.

There is a chance that he gets some starting reps for New Orleans Saints this season as well. He will compete with Trevor Penning for that job if Ramczyk cannot begin the season as a starter.

Of course, that is if the Saints do not add another clear contender to start at OT. That could happen, but it does not seem likely at this point of free agency.
