Plays of the Year: Warren stuns with longest Steelers rushing TD since 2014

In Week 11, the Pittsburgh Steelers were on the road visiting the Cleveland Browns in an AFC North battle. Both teams were 6-3 entering the game.  Although the Steelers played tough defense, their offense wasn’t able to put points onto the scoreboard until the third quarter thanks to a stunning run from back Jaylen Warren.

On the opening offensive drive after receiving the second half kickoff, Pittsburgh took just two plays and 50 seconds off of the game clock to go from their own 25-yard line to the other end zone.

On 2nd & 9 from their own 26-yard line, Kenny Pickett pitched the ball off to Warren. Warren sprinted towards the right side of the line where Broderick Jones had already kicked out wide on a block and cut towards the empty lane where guard Isaac Seumalo and center Mason Cole had pressed their defenders off the line. Receiver Miles Boykin helped slow Browns defenders trying to catch Warren downfield, giving the running back room to keep his legs pumping for a 74-yard touchdown run.

Warren’s rushing touchdown was the longest play of that type since Le’Veon Bell had run 81 yards for a score in Week 3 of the 2014 NFL season.

On the day, Warren outpaced fellow running back Najee Harris with 129 yards on nine carries to Harris’ 35 yards on 12 carries. Warren added 3 receptions for 16 yards in the game, but his efforts would be all for naught, as the Steelers lost, falling to 6-4 on the season by a final score of 13-10.
