Titans might be close to landing a top free agent

The former AFC Champion wide receiver might be the Titans’ next target

This offseason, the Tennessee Titans have done just about everything possible in order to build this roster into a contender.

The only question now, is, whether or not Will Levis is indeed ready to be “the guy” for Tennessee. If the offseason moves are any indication, the Titans have all the faith in the world in Levis. They’ve essentially gone all-in.

Maybe one of the only things missing, now, is one more wide receiver to fill out the depth chart and give this team adequate depth. Could former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver and current free agent Tyler Boyd be the target?

Per one of his latest Instagram posts, Boyd appears to be in downtown Nashville and meeting with the Titans. This should come as no surprise, as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported earlier in the week that Boyd was set to meet with both the Los Angeles Chargers as well as Tennessee.

The Titans went out and signed Calvin Ridley to a big deal this offseason. Ridley joins DeAndre Hopkins as well as third-year pro Treylon Burks to form the top three receivers in Tennessee. Hopkins enjoyed a breakout game, last year, during Levis’ first start of the season when the two of them hooked up for three touchdowns.

Burks, meanwhile, is someone that Titans fans are starting to build momenum behind. There’s a bit of a hype train rolling behind Burks’ third year. The former first rounder hasn’t yet lived up to his billing, but injuries haven’t helped.

If Burks can come into his own in 2024, the Titans should be in great shape. But, if this team also signed Boyd, that gives Levis four legitimate receivers in his arsenal.

Boyd would reunite with new Titans head coach Brian Callahan, who was his offensive coordinator in Cincinnati. That connection certainly plays a part in the Titans’ chances of signing Boyd.

Despite being the Bengals’ third option for a few years now, Boyd has put up strong seasons, going over 600 yards each of the last four seasons, including two of those topping the 800-yard mark. He’s even posted a pair of 1,000-yard seasons; those years coming back in 2018 and 2019.
