Packers OT Drops Bold Promise Amid Potentially Replacing David Bakhtiari

After what seemed like a lost season for David Bakhtiari, the Green Bay Packers need to find guys who’ll pair well with Jordan Love on the field. Fortunately, offensive tackle Rasheed Walker is more than ready to step up.

Green Bay Packers OT Drops Bold Promise Amid Potentially Replacing David Bakhtiari

As it stands, Bakhtiari’s constant brushes with injuries and substantial contract make him a liability for the Packers. Walker, on the other hand, has shown what he can do if given the job during the Packers’ impressive run last season.

With Bakhtiari missing by Week 2, Walker rose up to the challenge for Green Bay. And even though he shared that position with Yosh Nijman by Week 8, Walker still managed to become more relevant in the lineup than the former.

Looking at his leap last season, one may argue he had improved more than Love’s breakout campaign. Even two-time Pro Bowler Elgton Jenkins sees that promise of Walker starting for the Packers later this year.

Given Walker’s young age and a lot more room to improve over the years, there’s a pretty good chance he’s going to start over Bakhtiari and Nijman. If that happens, all of his hard work will be validated soon.

Amidst all of the hype surrounding Walker, the offensive tackle himself realizes he has to do more for his team. According to Walker in an article posted on the Packers’ official website:

“It’s never enough,” he said. “Always gotta do more. But as long as I’m on the field, I’m gonna do what I’ve gotta do,” Walker said.

With another leap in store next season, there’s every reason for Green Bay to place their trust in Walker. Add Bakhtiari’s questionable future with the team, and it makes more sense for him to get a more prominent role soon.
